Project Numero Uno: Who Are You?
So the good news is that I am officially signed on as the new youth pastor at VCC! I'm totally thrilled about the endeavor, and all that God has in store with regard to it. I hope that everyone is doing well in their lives right now, and I will be there soon. There are a lot of ideas floating around in my head, and it would be great for some or all of them to come into being.
All that said, there is a little project that will come into play just a little down the road and past the lovely month of May (I'm a poet, and you didn't know it). This is something that has been on my heart for awhile now, and I guess this is the place to get the ball rolling with it. Background story goes that I was musing in the car about a B-Movie (for those who don't know, a "B-Movie" is historically the low-budget, less-than-stellar movie that would come on before the A-List movie at the theatres back in the day. It's also what I call my videotape extravaganzas where we either make up something totally random or have some sort of idea about the theme)... anyhow, while I was musing about different things to do with making a B-Movie with the group, I thought of the twins. I was thinking how neat it would be to use a screen splitting effect and have them together as one person in a shot, only to split out and show that they are two different people. I've often
pondered about the life of a twin, and what one of the most important things in meeting people would be communicating that you are two different people. That got me thinking... and thus this focus was born. As you (the youth group) are going to be entering either your first or your last year of high school, one of the most important things is going to be who you are and who you present yourself as. For example, I am (what I consider) a good singer and actress, and that is part of who I am. But there is much more to who I am, as there is much inside of each of you that is part of who you are. So now the crux of the matter (the point)- I would like each of you (and adults, you can do this too!!) to take some time and think about what it is that makes you... well, YOU. Maybe even take the time and write some of it down, and when you think of something else, you can keep track of it. Our first youth meeting (the 7th of June, I think), bring what you wrote. It doesn't have to be a 10-page research paper on the life of Joe McGee, but just little tidbits about you. I will do the same (hey, if I ask it of you, then I should do it too), and we'll talk about it more then. I know this one was long, but I want to save time for discussing what we wrote instead of how God got me thinking about it. Love you all and hope that you have fun with this... it's all about who YOU are!♥

Hi Becky, this is Doug Hardin. I've been entrusted with some info from our group to pass along.
First, from Don Potter:
I am the temporary youth leader with my wife Janice. Doug and Tiffany, Pam Widner, and Darrell and Darla Lowe have been a great help as youth sponsors. We have 5 children, all serving the Lord. 3 of my daughters call VCC their church home; Sheri, Shannon, and Tiffany. We have another daughter in Alaska who is married to a youth pastor. Our son Steve lives in Walla Walla, WA and attends the Journey Church. We also do foster care, and are currently caring for 4 special needs boys. If we can help in any way Becky we want you to know that we'll be there for you. May God bless you in this endeavor! In His love, Don Potter
Janice Potter - Youth Sponsor
My desire is to assist the youth in their search for more of God. Encouraging and praying for God's perfect will and reaching the lost. Darla Lowe and I have been playing the keyboard for youth services, and I'm willing to help wherever I can. I pray that "soul-seekers" will come from this group of kids and that God will use them in awesome ways.
